Soccer Saturday: Navas makes impressive save vs. Nantes; Herediano takes lead in Costa Rican final

It has been at least a week since we shared a Keylor Navas highlight, and we’re here to rectify that issue.

Below you can watch highlights from Wednesday’s 2-0 victory for PSG over Nantes. Navas, the Costa Rican goalkeeper, made four saves for his French club.

Fast-forward to the 2:55 mark to see Navas’s most impressive stop of the night — a reaction save from a header that the ‘keeper managed to deflect off the crossbar.

Just another typical day at the office for the pride of Costa Rica (and one of the world’s best goalkeepers).

Club Sport Herediano earned a comfortable 2-0 victory over Liga Deportiva Alajuelense on Wednesday in the first leg of the 2019 Apertura second-round final.

Francisco Rodríguez scored a brace for “El Team” in the 14th and 33rd minutes — with some help from goalkeeper Adonis Pineda, who could have done better in both instances.

Watch the highlights below:

The return leg of this second-round final is Sunday in Alajuela. If “La Liga” can come-from-behind and win on aggregate, it will be crowned 2019 Apertura champions.

If Herediano holds on to defeat Alajuelense, both teams will advance to a “Gran Final” to determine the 2019 Apertura winner. Alajuelense has that advantage because it finished atop the regular-season fixture.

Kickoff Sunday is at 3 p.m. at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto.
