President Solís meets with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at UN

Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas held a bilateral meeting Monday at the U.N. General Assembly in New York. Solís said the meeting was “fraternal” and that Costa Rica would lend any support requested to help peacefully resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to a video statement. This was Solís’ second meeting with a Middle Eastern leader during this trip. He met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby over the weekend. Costa Rica requested a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but the meeting has not yet been confirmed.
