U.S. tourist stabbed in Guanacaste, four arrested

Tourist Police arrested four men accused of wounding a U.S. tourist in a robbery at Playa Grande, in the northwestern province of Guanacaste.

The four men entered a home where the foreigner was staying and stabbed him several times with a knife, according to a police report. The owner of the house heard the attack and called police. Two of the suspects were encountered walking on the beach, and the other two were found a kilometer away on motorcycles. One of the suspects had finished serving a prison term several days before the attack.

The U.S. citizen, reportedly in his 30s, was taken to a hospital in Nicoya. A spokesperson for the Tourist Police said he is in stable conditioning and is recovering.
