Romans will crucify Jesus in annual Good Friday parades throughout Costa Rica

Practicing Catholics will don their ancient Roman garb Friday to reenact the crucifixion of Jesus in the streets of Costa Rica on Friday.

The annual procession is held in towns and cities across the country. The largest and most elaborate parade will start in downtown San José starting at 10:30 a.m.

Going there: The Virgin Mary and her procession will leave from the Parroquía La Dolorosa (one block east from the southeast corner of the old post office) at 10:30 a.m. and meet up with the procession of Jesus of Nazareth on Second Avenue. The procession will then stop in Parque Central for the final performance.
