Japanese and Tico Leaders Discuss Opportunities

REPRESENTATIVES of variousCosta Rican businesses and institutionsmet with Japanese officials Oct. 27 in aroundtable meeting to discuss the businessenvironment in Costa Rica andprospective business opportunities withJapan.The activity was part of the“Business Week” organized by theJapanese Embassy to celebrate 70 yearsof diplomatic relations between the twocountries, intended to build businessconnections between companies fromboth nations and provide more informationto Costa Ricans about Japanesemarkets and cooperation, according to ajoint statement released by the ForeignTrade Ministry and the JapaneseEmbassy.Among the Costa Rican institutionsthat participated in the event were theForeign Trade Ministry, the ForeignRelations Ministry, the Economy,Industry and Commerce Ministry, theCosta Rican Investment PromotionAgency (CINDE), the Pacific PortAuthority, the General ImmigrationAdministration and others.Costa Rican exports to Japan continueto grow, up 29.7% in the first semester ofthis year, the statement said.
