Grammy Winner Jon Batiste Announces First Costa Rica Concert

Grammy and Oscar-winning musician Jon Batiste will perform in Costa Rica for the first time this September, bringing a one-night orchestral concert to Parque Viva in Alajuela. The show is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Anfiteatro Imperial in Parque Viva, located in La Guácima. Batiste will perform alongside the Orquesta Filarmónica de Costa Rica in a production created specifically for the Costa Rica date.

The concert will feature orchestral arrangements of some of the most representative songs from Batiste’s career, pairing his jazz, soul, gospel, R&B, pop and classical influences with a full Costa Rican orchestra.

Batiste, a New Orleans-born pianist, singer, composer and bandleader, has built one of the more wide-ranging careers in contemporary music. He has won eight Grammy Awards from 25 nominations, including Album of the Year for his 2021 record We Are. His 2025 album BIG MONEY won Best Americana Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

He also won an Academy Award for his work on the score of Disney and Pixar’s Soul, alongside Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. His 2023 album World Music Radio earned five Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year, while his solo piano project Beethoven Blues reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Albums chart.

Beyond his recording career, Batiste spent seven years as bandleader and musical director for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, from 2015 to 2022. He has also performed on major international stages, including the Super Bowl, and was the subject of the Netflix documentary American Symphony, which followed a demanding period in his creative and personal life.

Producer Sam Zahedi described the Costa Rica concert as a special moment for the country’s music scene, saying Batiste is known for connecting strongly with audiences and delivering memorable live performances. He called the collaboration with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Costa Rica a historic night for Costa Rica.

Doors open at 4 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. The event is open to audiences of all ages. Parque Viva said the venue will have accessible areas for attendees with reduced mobility, paid parking for more than 1,000 vehicles, and food and beverage options on site.

Tickets are available through Publitickets. Prices range from ₡32,500 for Zona 500 Lateral to ₡65,000 for Golden Circle Central. Other sections include Zona 500 Central at ₡41,500, Zona 400 Lateral at ₡49,500, Zona 400 Central at ₡52,500 and Golden Circle Lateral at ₡57,500.
