Socialist Policies OK, Dictatorship Not OK

November 13, 2009

Dear Nica Times:

Regarding article “U.S. Rejects Sandinista Judges Reelection Ruling” (NT, Oct. 30).

This is a repeat of what prompted Hondurans to oust their former President. There, the United States has supported the return of the ousted president. Now they are against the Nicaragua one.

An aside, I believe that Hugo Chávez of Venezuela is financially and, perhaps in other ways, promoting his style of socialist dictatorships throughout Latin America. I am not against socialist policies to address poverty, but I am against dictatorships.
