Unemployment in Costa Rica reached 20.1% from March to May 2020, marking the highest-recorded level of that economic indicator, the official statistical agency announced Thursday.
The sanitary measures adopted by the government from March 16 to protect the population against the coronavirus have meant the collapse of family businesses, closings of bars, hotels and shops, and sodas and restaurants that barely survive.
