Costa Rica announced on Friday that it plans on ramping up police presence at popular tourist hotspots after two female tourists were murdered last weekend.
Two men have been detained for the murder of a young Mexican tourist. Authorities say the woman was killed during an attempted robbery in Santa Teresa this Sunday.
The National Police received 2,512 complaints for property crimes during the first half of this year, representing a 13.6 percent drop from the same period of 2016.
