The U.S. Embassy and its Consular Section in San José will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21, as a tribute to the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, an embassy statement advised.
“This day marks the birth, life and legacy of a man who brought hope to the United States and who through his example taught the values that defined his character and leadership: courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service. This day also marks the universal, unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that fueled the revolutionary spirit of Dr. King,” the statement said.
Embassy offices will open again on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at a regular schedule from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
