Holiday Inn Escazú a ‘model’ project

Salvadoran company Grupo Agrisal officially inaugurated its first business venture in Costa Rica this month, the Holiday Inn San José-Escazú. Agrisal has been operating in El Salvador for a century, mostly in commercial real estate projects like the Torre Futura, Plaza Futura and Plaza Mundo.

Part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the largest worldwide hotel group in terms of number of rooms, Costa Rica’s newest Holiday Inn is located next to Cima Hospital and near Multiplaza Mall in Escazú, southwest of San José.

IHG called the Holiday Inn Escazú a “model design” for future projects in Latin America. It was built at a cost of $20 million and offers 160 rooms and eight conference rooms.

The five-star hotel, opened April 1, anchors the Plaza Tempo commercial complex, currently in its second phase and scheduled for completion in 2012. The hotel is 100 percent smoke-free. President Laura Chinchilla was among the dignitaries who attended the July 7 inauguration.
