Limón was the site of the 2nd annual inter-provincial schools Under-15 cricket tournament last month. Four teams competed for the Standford Barton Cup at the event, which included a talk by H.E. Sandra Honoré, Trinidad and Tobago ambassador.

In the boys’ competition, Roble Alto, of Heredia, tied with Olimpia Trejos of Limón, with two victories each. The playoff will be in Heredia. Cup holder Tomas Guardia finished third, Nov. 3, at CATIE in Turrialba, but won the girls’ competition by beating Olimpia Trejos.

Costa Rica celebrated the 2009 League Champions of Cricket (grandfather of baseball), when Corsairs Cricket Association won its first Lance Binns Cup, by beating Raleigh International by 23 runs.

A national CR team will go to San Salvador in December to contest the Volcano Cup against El Salvador, and next year Costa Rica will play in its first ever official ICC Tournament (Americas Division IV) in Mexico City, Mexico, in May or June 2010, against Cuba, Falkland Islands and Mexico.
