Costa Rica Soccer Stadium at Full Capacity for Final World Cup Qualifiers

With the pivotal upcoming home game against Canada on March 24, the Costa Rica Football Federation announced that the 35,000 seat National Stadium can be at 100% capacity. This will also apply to Los Tico’s last qualifying home game against the United States on March 30.

Having a full stadium will certainly help the team as it goes against Canada who is in 1st place but still has plenty of incentive to win because if they do they will punch their ticket to Qatar and its first World Cup appearance since 1986.

Costa Rica, on the other hand, is currently in 5th place with 16 points and 1 point behind Panama. That makes this game against Canada a must win scenario as they have put their backs against the wall and only have a realistic chance of qualifying naturally and without going to the playoff scenario with wins against their final 3 opponents Canada, US and El Salvador.

The top three countries, who are currently, Canada with 25 points, the United States and Mexico both with 21 points ( US ahead on goal difference) earn the right to go to this year’s tournament in Qatar in November, while the fourth-place country, currently Panama with 17 point, advances to a playoff in June against the Oceania champion, which at this point will most likely be New Zealand.

The game against Canada will start at 7:00pm
