Wind and rain prompt yellow, green alerts throughout Costa Rica
The National Emergency Commission (CNE) on Friday issued yellow and green alerts throughout most of Costa Rica due to rains and wind.
“The CNE raises a Yellow Alert for the North Zone, North Caribbean, Sarapiquí and Río Cuarto, and also maintains a Green Alert for Central Valley, North Pacific and Central Pacific due to the passage of Cold Front No. 2 that has generated constant rains,” the alert reads.
A green alert is meant to be informative, while a yellow alert is issued when the risk to a community, region or the country has risen, or when it’s confirmed a phenomenon will have a significant affectation on a population.
Drive carefully, as the weather may cause deteriorations in road conditions.
According to Costa Rica’s National Meteorological Institute (IMN), windy conditions in the Central Valley and to the north will persist into Saturday, though with less magnitude.
