Theater Group to Showcase Members’ Creative Talents

From a peppery song about marital bliss to a heartfelt eulogy for a lost love, from the memoir of an ornery cat to a raucous spoof of royals and other absurd characters, the Little Theatre Group of Costa Rica is preparing a unique blend of entertainment to be seen for the first time.

“What’s Love Got To Do With It?” – an evening of songs, dance and storytelling monologues – will showcase original work written and performed by members of Costa Rica’s veteran English-language community theater group. The show opens July 9 for one weekend only at the Laurence Olivier Theater in San José.

Directed by Stacey Auch and Caroline Kennedy, the variety show touches upon aspects of love imagined and unsuspected, and includes works by Auch, Barbara Adams, Ann Antkiw, Katherine Chanowich, Carolina Delgado, Andrew Gardener, Steve Harrington, Kevin Huey, Caroline Kennedy, Pilar Saavedra-Vela and Ann Sammis, most of whom will perform their own work, with additional performances by Noel Montagano.

Performances are July 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and July 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Laurence Olivier Theater on Avenida 2, Calle 28, next to Sala Garbo. Reservations may be made online at www.littletheatregroup.org or by phone at 8858-1446. Dinner- and brunch-theater combinations at Tin-Jo restaurant or the Hotel Grano de Oro are offered on the group’s website.
