Southwest Airlines on Friday officially announced its June return to Costa Rica, representing the Dallas-based carrier's first flights here since the coronavirus pandemic began.
Air transport from Central America and the Dominican Republic lost 157 routes last year due to the pandemic, which meant 11,095 flights stopped operating.
The global top five, in order, are: Maldives, UAE, Seychelles, Costa Rica and Japan. The top-three ranking in the Americas are Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
