Costa Rica registered 569 homicides in 2020, representing a slight increase over the previous year, according to preliminary data provided by Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ).
The Public Security Ministry (MSP) says it will join forces with the Environment Ministry (MINAE) to help protect Costa Rica’s national parks from illegal activity.
The detainees were left to the order of the Public Ministry (prosecutor's office), which could prosecute them for the crime of illicit trafficking in persons.
