CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuelan police fired tear gas and buckshot to disperse hundreds of anti-government protesters late Wednesday, and the death toll from two weeks of unrest rose to four.
Former Costa Rican President Óscar Arias accepted an invitation from Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López to observe the conflict in Venezuela. But it seems unlikely the two will meet soon, as López turned himself in to Venezuelan authorities – as he had promised to do – after marching with supporters in Caracas.

MEXICO CITY – After five days of bloody student-led street protests, Venezuela appeared headed for a dangerous new showdown, as opposition leader Leopoldo López said he will emerge from hiding Tuesday to lead a new anti-government march.
