The #GraciasCostaRica campaign invites members of the public to upload messages thanking Costa Rica for what it's given them. The messages help raise awareness of nonprofit initiatives in education, conservation and rural development.
Young people took the stage to tell their stories of coming to Culture, Education and Psychology for Infants and Adolescents (CEPIA), the organization that Laetitia Deweer cofounded with her friend and fellow Belgian Lotje Deridder to improve the quality of life of impoverished Guanacaste children and teenagers and their families.
In addition to economic concerns, a new plan addresses Afro-descendent culture and access to justice. Among that plan’s call to action are policies to improve access to employment opportunities and public services, and programs to educate children about racial stereotypes.
When it comes to Costa Rica’s global competitiveness, we all want and need more people who are able to communicate effectively in English, as there is a direct correlation both here and abroad between the number of meaningful job opportunities and the English-language proficiency level of the workforce.
Even though students aren't allowed to use cellphones and smartphones in class for personal matters, teachers are now not allowed to take phones away as punishment.
Children at home or in a classroom get in an argument? Have them work the puzzle, together and read the peace-inspiring message. Adults can enjoy putting together a puzzle, tool, and it can be a tool for teaching teamwork or getting to know each other in workshops.
To cap off their project, the students contacted the Dawn team directly to ask them a few questions about scientific aspects of the project and seek some career guidance. What better way to learn about a project than from the people working on it?
