Construction Expo 2006 a Building Bonanza

Home-builders on the lookout for construction items can find them all in one spot at the seventh annual Construction Expo March 1-5 at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura, on the way from San José to JuanSantamaríaInternationalAirport, northwest of San José.

The fair, which emerged as a joint effort of the Construction Chamber and Congrex Costa Rica event organizers, will congregate 200 businesses that will exhibit their goods within three realms of the construction sector: raw construction, finishings and financing options, according to Congrex Costa Rica manager Mónica Méndez.

Visitors to the expo can enjoy access to information about construction machinery and materials, finishings – including floors, bathroom and kitchen accessories and illumination – as well as financing options, with the presence of contractors and bank representatives at the fair, Méndez explained.

“They will offer all (Costa Rican) residents the latest and newest technology in construction,” she said.

A novelty this year will be an international area, where businesses from abroad will display their construction products, Méndez said.

The 15,000 expected visitors should not fret about parking; there will be plenty of space at the área de bonanza behind the hotel, with shuttle service to the expo grounds, according to Méndez.

Admission this year will cost ¢1,500 ($3) per person; senior citizens and children under 12 attend for free.

Each ticket will allow the visitor to participate in a raffle for a $1,500 gift certificate from Cemex, a concrete building-block manufacturer, and engineers and architects may participate to win a laptop computer in a draw exclusively for members of their profession, Méndez said.

The Construction Expo will be kick off March 1 at 6:30 p.m. and run Thursday and Friday from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.
