Industry Gets Set for Ninth ExpoConstrucción

The ninth annual ExpoConstrucción y Vivienda (Construction and Housing Expo) will take place at the PIMA Exhibition Center in Barreal de Heredia, north of San José, from Feb. 27 to March 2.
Sponsored by the Costa Rican Construction Chamber and the Inter-American Construction Industry Federation, the event will see representatives from more than 200 companies showcasing everything from construction services to security devices and mortgage packages – in short, every aspect of home building, buying and decoration.
The event is aimed at both those who work in the industry and the general public. Stand holders will include international firms as well as Tico exhibitors, and are grouped in three main categories: construction, finishing, and real estate projects and financing.
This year’s exhibition is set to be bigger than ever, following a change of venue from the Ramada Plaza Herradura in Cariari, northwest of the capital.
Organizers estimate that, with the extra capacity of the PIMA center, 20,000 people will attend this year’s exhibition.
The five-day event runs from 3 to 10 p.m.Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Feb. 27-29; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday,March 1; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday,March 2.
Admission is free for adults the first three days and ¢1,500 ($3) Saturday and Sunday; senior citizens and children under 12 are admitted free throughout. Visitors will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win a Toyota Yaris, according to Ivannia Mora, project manager with event organizer Congrex de Costa Rica.
The PIMA Exhibition Center is located at the National Food Storage and Distribution Center (CENADA), a kilometer east of the Real Cariari shopping mall. Parking costs ¢1,500.
