Tourists may be able to navigate San José with more ease, thanks to a new effort by the city to erect signs labeling every street.
San José Mayor Johnny Araya told the daily La Nación that he hoped later to expand this project to the rest of the canton.
Araya is seeking funding from two state banks, Banco Nacional and Banco de Costa Rica, he said, and the city may also ask home- and storeowners to shoulder some of the cost.
Once financing is secured, it will take about two years to put up the 16,000 signs.
