President Laura Chinchilla on Wednesday met with new Legislative Assembly President Victor Granados for the first time since his May 1 election.
At Casa Presidencial, the two discussed their priorities for the Costa Rican Congress, which includes pushing bills about security and finances.
According to Radio ADN, Chinchilla wants to pass bills on the issues of human trafficking, guns and regulating casinos and bookmakers.
Also on the table are bills discussing free trade agreements with Peru, Singapore and China, reforms to the transit law and fiscal transparency.
The government does not consider controversial bills including same-sex unions a priority.
