Nya Costa Rica: A Mixed Real Estate Project Launches in Guanacaste

Nya means tree in the Chorotega language. This indigenous language was spoken by the Chorotega tribe, that lived in Guanacaste. The name reflects the symbolism of the Guanacaste Tree, whose lushness provides the capacity to bring refuge and is considered to be a place of gathering.

Now, Nya will also be used to talk about a spectacular Real Estate project, that began its development in Liberia, Guanacaste. During this month, the first earth movements and infrastructure constructions will be taking place at the 900-acre property.

The developers’ goal is to build a community with the best amenities and opportunities. To do so, the project features an integrated vision of sustainability, along with homes, a Marriott Courtyard hotel, a crystalline lagoon with Crystal Lagoons technology, shops, and a free trade zone.

Specifically, it will feature over 60 amenities: The Crystal Lagoon is the most innovative of them all. Nya partnered with Crystal Lagoons® to create 8.6-acre turquoise lagoons, with 7 public and private white sand beaches, an island, 4 marinas, and a 1-mile walking trail. This, as well as a swimming area for kids, floating lap lanes, an inflatable water park, sailboats, paddleboards and kayaks, make it ideal for both children and grown-ups.

In addition, there will be a village containing shopping, dining, and entertainment options. With a rooftop restaurant, a wine lounge, coffee shop, margarita bar, wedding chapel, concert pavilion, playground, marina, mini market, office building and coworking center, Nya’s Village on The Beach is the perfect place to work with a wonderful view and relax afterwards or-if you’re lucky enough-just relax.

Even though it features some artificial luxuries, the project doesn’t leave behind Costa Rica’s greatest attraction: nature. The Eco Canyon and Park will allow all the fun and adventure for those who love exploring the wild. It has a diverse population of flora and fauna, enclosed by a mile-long canyon and river, featuring 230-foot-tall cliffs and waterfalls. It is absolutely perfect for bikers, hikers, canyoning, climbing, ATV and horseback riding lovers. Nineteen miles of trails in the middle of the wilderness await.

For all those interested in Sports and Wellness, Nya provides the best sporting facilities: from a gym, to a wellness spa, to pickleball, soccer, basketball or tennis. It also includes smoothie bars and yoga centers.

According to Manuel Freer, Nya’s CEO, “Nya is being developed on land that had initially been considered for the Discovery theme park. When the international corporation changed its internal strategy, the brand decided to withdraw from that initiative. The vision of creating a project to attract investment, domestic and international tourism, jobs, and economic development to the area, however, led several of us original investors, plus new and prestigious partners, to rethink the project.” 

The economic impact, along with the creation of new jobs and the sustainability approach of the project, encouraged the Costa Rican government to issue a decree of national public interest. The Municipalities of Liberia, Cañas, Carillo and Bagaces have also publicly indicated the significance and importance of Nya.

As any Costa Rican project, the environmental focus is extremely important. Nya is will implement an eco-friendly design, architecture, and green building practices. It will create energy-efficient buildings, ecologically appropriate design, aligning with United Nations sustainable development goals.

This will be possible thanks to the strategies that will be executed in the complex: the creation of green power through the sun, a recycling program, employment for locals, gender equality, green areas for parks and conservation, education agendas and treatment plants to process grey and black water.

Additionally, Nya is committed to bettering the community: they have designed a land grant program which will provide NGO’s, charitable institutions and organizations with resources to build a better society.

Nya is never before seen project in Costa Rica. It will attract even more tourists and provide the area with much needed employment opportunities and investment. For all visitors, it will be a wonderful space to relax and recharge.
