Inflation Continues To Rise in Costa Rica

Inflation for 2007 is clearly on track to outstrip that of 2006. The consumer price index was up 1.24% for November, putting accumulated inflation for the year so far at 8.98% – 0.65% higher than for the same period last year.

The prices of food and drink went up 3.59% last month, for a total increase so far this year of 15.86%. The price of dining out also went up 2.72%, while prices of transportation and communication dropped.

Inflation in Costa Rica for the last 12- month period is at 10.09%, one of the highest in Central America.
