Costa Rica Extends Tourist Visas to 180 Days.

The Costa Rican government recently announced an increase in the maximum stay period for foreign tourists on a tourist visa, from 90 days to 180 days. This change aims to boost tourism revenue and support local businesses by encouraging visitors to spend more time and money exploring Costa Rica’s offerings.

The extended 180-day stay makes Costa Rica more attractive for leisure tourists, digital nomads, and remote workers looking to reside in the country for longer periods. Tourism represents over 8% of Costa Rica’s GDP, so the government believes the economic benefits outweigh concerns about deterring settlement. With more time to travel deeper into communities, tourists can better appreciate the Costa Rican way of life.

Las Pumas runs solely on private funding and donations, making this prize invaluable for taking on new projects. Celeste’s win has brought international recognition to the great work of Costa Rica’s animal rescuers.
