At 4:13 a.m. on Sunday, a magnitude-2.5 earthquake shook Costa Rica’s capital, San José. The epicenter, according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica, was located in the northern canton of Coronado.
A second earthquake, measuring magnitude 2.6, occurred at 5:01 a.m. in the canton de Dota, south of San José. The third earthquake occurred at 12:02 p.m. in the northwestern province of Guanacaste, 24 kilometers northwest of the canton of Santa Cruz. This earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.5.
At 4:46 p.m., the fourth and strongest earthquake of the day registered 4.3 in the province of Puntarenas, southwest of the canton of Corredores, near the border with Panama.
No damages have been reported.
