International arts festival issues call for artists

The Culture Ministry and the National Theater have issued a call for national and international artists and designers to participate in the 2012 International Arts Festival, set for March 15 to 25 of next year.

Artists from more than 30 countries representing the Americas, Europe and Asia have participated in the biennial event since its inception in 1989. The festival converts the streets, avenues and theaters of the capital into a giant stage, with a program that aspires to “unite the best national and international artists to strengthen and encourage the artistic development of the national community; to produce an event of high quality and diversity; [and] to promote an exchange, fraternity and cooperation between artists, countries, civil organizations, public institutions and private companies,” according to a statement from the event’s organizers.

Artists from anywhere in the world, of all disciplines and performing works for all ages, are invited to participate. Those interested have until July 15 to fill out and submit the application form accessible through the festival’s website, www.festivaldelasartes.go.cr (click on “Convocatoria FIA 2012” on the right side of the page).

Questions about the application form may be emailed to fia2012@festivaldelasartes.go.cr.
