Rock festival to hit Parque Morazán next weekend

Costa Rican rockers, with special guests from Honduras, Guatemala and Panama, are set to take over downtown San José’s Parque Morazán Feb. 11-12 for the sixth Rock en el Morazán Festival.

The event is presented by the Spanish Cultural Center and producer DMP, organizers of the Rock en el Farolito series, which offers free concerts by national bands monthly at the cultural center in eastern San José’s Barrio Escalante.

On Saturday, Tico rock bands Hubba & Silica, Los Cuchillos, Esimple, Moldo, Sight of Emptiness and Billy the Kid will be joined by Guatemalan funk rockers Hot Sugar Mama and Escaparate of Honduras. Sunday’s lineup will include Costa Rican groups Pneuma, aUTOPerro, Advent of Bedlam, Alberto Chaves, Corpse Garden and Reacción Direkta, with all-female band SK of Panama.

The free concerts start at noon both days. For more information, see the Spanish Cultural Center’s website at www.ccecr.org.
