US citizen dies in Jacó car crash

Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) reported that a 53-year-old U.S. citizen with the last name Levine died in a car accident in the popular beach town of Jacó Tuesday afternoon.

According to initial reports, Levine was driving a lightweight vehicle with another passenger on the highway when for an unknown reason the car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck carrying gas to San José. The impact knocked the U.S. driver’s car off the road and into a ditch. The other passenger in the car was unhurt.

The truck driver passed a breathalyzer test, according to the statement.

OIJ is investigating the case.
