Tico Coffee Maker May Be Outta This World

Tired of having to drink that instant coffee crap they give you in space? So was Costa Rican Franklin Chang when he was an astronaut.

Picking up on Franklin’s complaint, two young Tico inventors, Josué Solano and Daniel Rozen, have invented a coffee maker for space travelers.

The “Infusor Expacial” is the product of their thesis project for an electromechanical engineering degree at the Costa Rica Technology Institute.

The device is made of stainless steel in three parts: a heating chamber, a piston-like device to push hot water into the coffee.
