British Author Beats Out Cardenal for Nobel Prize

MANAGUA – Famed revolutionary poet and priest Ernesto Cardenal, who had been promoted by several groups of Latin America writers for this year’s Nobel Prize for Literature, this week celebrated the award going to British author Doris Lessing.

Cardenal, 82, admitted he is not familiar with the works of Lessing, but said that if she won “it’s because she’s good.”
