Presidency Ministers Meet in Heredia

Representatives of some 22 nations met in Costa Rica this week to discuss strategies to promote “social cohesion.”

The 11th Latin American-Iberian Meeting of Presidency Ministers and their Equivalents began Wednesday and ends today in the Hotel La Condesa in the mountains above Heredia, north of San José. Guests include representatives from across Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

The meeting, a precursor to a summit of American Presidents in Chile in November, gave Costa Rican Presidency Minister Rodrigo Arias, the President’s brother, a spot in the limelight.

“This is a leadership position for Rodrigo Arias,” said Casa Presidencial spokesman Pablo Gueren. “It will promote a national image for him.”
