Eastern San José gets first internationally-branded hotel

The eastern suburb of Curridabat will soon be home to the Hyatt’s newest installation, according to an announcement by the Chicago-based hotel giant on Wednesday.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has signed an agreement with Hotelera Pinares S.A. to manage the hotel at Momentum Pinares, a mixed-use development just east of Costa Rica’s capital city San José.

In addition to a 120-hotel room, the site will feature a 97,000-sq-ft. office tour, a 48,000-sq.-ft. medical building, a movie theater and a shopping mall with 75,000 sq-ft. of retail space.

The Hyatt Place Hotel is due to open in mid-2012 and, according to a Hyatt Hotels Corporation, will be the “first internationally branded hotel in the vibrant east side of San José.”

“Hyatt is actively looking to grow its Hyatt Place brand throughout Latin America and we are excited to be working with Strategic Hospitality Investments Corporation on our first Hyatt Place project in Central America” said Pat McCudden, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts’ Senior Vice President of Development for Latin America and the Caribbean in a statement.
