Two U.S. men arrested on suspicion of running hydroponic pot lab in Pérez Zeledón

Two United States citizens were detained Dec. 30 near the Southern Zone city of Pérez Zeledón on suspicion of running a hydroponic marijuana growing operation, according to a report by the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ).

The two men, Andrew Zeigler and Craig Zeigler, were arrested in San Luis del Ceibo, the OIJ report stated, as the presumed owners of a farm that contained a hydroponic pot-growing setup.

Agents seized 142 marijuana plants, six bags of marijuana, a quantity of marijuana buds, electric generators, fluorescent lamps, an electric motor and a motorcycle, the OIJ report said. Additionally, agents recovered $316 in cash.

Zeigler and Zeigler were transported into the custody of the Prosecutor’s Office, where they were given three months of preventive detention.
