Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaría International Airport Opens New Food Section

On Tuesday, a new commercial area was inaugurated inside the Juan Santamaría International Airport.

The two-story building has modern furnishings, state-of-the-art equipment and innovative and varied gastronomic options. Four different restaurants offer their cuisine at the airport’s facilities. It also has digital self-service stations for ordering take-out food.

Healthy food, hamburgers, gourmet coffee and pastries, and a bar, are part of the novel options tourists will have at the airport.

For instance some of the new options that are available are:

  • Avokato – specializing in healthy food and international cuisine
  • Toro Burgers
  • Toro Bar – which offers beer and cocktails
  • Britt Café Bakery

They are all part of the restaurants in this new space and El Patio and California Pizza Kitchen will also be opening soon.

In addition, two other areas were set up for travelers to buy other types of items such as souvenirs, clothing and tech. This new commercial area connects to all the airport’s boarding lounges.

“It once again confirms AERIS’ commitment to optimize the airport’s amenities as the gateway to the Pura Vida experience, to ensure greater competitiveness, enhance its growth for the future and boost its contribution to Costa Rica’s airport development,” said Ricardo Hernandez, General Director of AERIS.

The area will have a space for taking photos and posting them on social networks and at the entrance, a giant mechanical sloth will be there to welcome vacationers.

It’s located after the immigration and security checkpoint, which, allows visitors to relax and unwind before boarding their flight.

The stores and brands operating in this area will be managed by the Morpho Travel Experience business group. Aeris and Morpho Travel Experience made an estimated $12 million investment to make this project a reality.
