Supermoon in Brazil at Ipanema Beach

A full moon nicknamed “the supermoon” rises at Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 10, 2014. A supermoon is the coinciding of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.
