Costa Rican ex-President Oscar Arias ties the knot

Fireworks lit up the night Saturday over the western San José neighborhood of Rohrmoser as two-term President Oscar Arias said “I do” to Suzanne Fischel, a Costa Rican attorney whom the Nobel Prize winner had been dating for three years. Both bride and groom were previously divorced.

Dozens of elegantly dressed friends and colleagues for the former president and his new bride arrived at Arias’ house Saturday night for the private event. Members of the press were not allowed to attend.

According to the daily La Nación, the ceremony lasted about a half hour, followed by a late-night reception where guests danced to the South Korean super hit “Gangnam Style,” by Psy.
