Private-sector workers seek 4 percent salary increase

Salary negotiations for private-sector workers are set to begin Tuesday between Labor Ministry officials and union representatives.

Negotiations will determine a salary raise for the first half of 2013. Workers are seeking a 4 percent increase on monthly salaries.

They also are asking for an additional 1 percent increase for employees earning minimum wage.

The National Salary Council will review the proposal, as well as an additional proposal from employers, expected on Oct. 22.
