Woman tanning on Costa Rica beach killed by tractor
A woman tanning on the beach in the Pacific province of Puntarenas was killed Saturday when a tractor leveling sand ran over her.
The accident occurred at 9 a.m, according to Judicial Investigation Police. The victim, 26-year-old Marisol Auxiliadora, was with her family on vacation when the incident happened, according to the daily La Nación. She died on impact.
The tractor is owned by the municipality of Puntarenas.
Puntarenas Mayor Rafael Angel Rodríguez told La Nación that the driver of the heavy machinery was trying to find a beach volleyball court. The driver told Rodríguez that he never saw the victim.
