February Inflation Registers at 0.89%

Costa Rica registered a monthly inflation of 0.89% in February.

This rate represents a decrease from January’s inflation rate of 1.17% and from the February inflation rates reported in 2005 (1.09%) and 2004 (1.29%), according to the National Statistics and Census Institute (INEC). The inflation over the past 12 months was 12.96%; inflation for 2005 was 14.07%.

Central Bank President Francisco de Paula Gutiérrez has announced a target rate of 11% for 2006, and 10% for 2007 (TT, Jan. 27).
