Stu Apte Tournament To Take Place in Golfito

RENOWNED fly and light-tackle angler Stu Apte will be holding the first annual Stu Apte Flyfishing Sailfish Tournament Feb. 1-3 at the Golfito Sailfish Rancho, on the southern Pacific coast.

According to a statement from the event’s promoter, the tournament is a conservation-oriented event developed to promote sportfishing and raise funds for the Costa Rica Sport Fishing Association, an organization founded a year ago to promote the conservation of billfish in the country.

The event is an all-release competition limited to 20 two-person teams, with one team per boat. The top three teams will receive trophies and prizes. The entry fee is $600 per team.
