Construction Quality To Get a Boost
A new collaboration between theFederated Association of Engineers andArchitects (CFIA) and the Costa RicanInstitute of Cement and Concrete seeks toimprove the quality of civil constructionprojects.The two organizations have agreed towork together to evaluate and improvethe country’s bridges, roads, sidewalksand other projects that use cement andconcrete, according to a statement fromboth groups.Beyond training, technology-sharingprograms and standardization efforts,the groups will work together to determinestatistics regarding the number ofconstruction permits requested, the numbergranted, and the time lapsed inbetween.The organizations will also makeefforts to evaluate whether projects complywith norms and quality levels, andrespond to defects in the constructionprocess.
