Central American Police Force Proposed

GUATEMALA CITY (EFE) –Guatemala last weekend proposed the creationof a joint-Central American policeforce to combat transnational crime in theregion, according to a Guatemalan policesource.Guatemala’s National Civil Policedirector Erwin Sperisn said his governmentis calling for the establishment of a“Central American Police” as part of theCentral American Integration System(SICA).“Crime doesn’t have borders, and ithas become more integrated than theCentral American countries have,” he said.There is still no word on the othercountries’ reaction to the proposal.
