THE annual Teletón closed its 15thfundraiser for children’s charity projectswith ¢295.5 million ($649,500) donated,surpassing its goal by more than ¢45 million($98,900).The event packed the bleachers in thePalacio de los Deportes in Heredia, northof San José, with spectators who watchedthe performances along with televisionaudiences for 27 hours from Friday toSaturday of last week.Entertainers, including renownedsingers, famous stuffed animal suits leadby the international purple superstarBarney, and synchronized dancers werethe backdrop to the fundraising.The money will help pay for an intensivecare tower for the NationalChildren’s Hospital, according to organizers.
