Ave Maria College Gains Accreditation

GRANADA, Nicaragua – Ave MariaCollege of the Americas, the only U.S.four-year college in Central America,announced it has been awarded fullaccreditation status by the Board ofTrustees of the American Academy ofLiberal Education (AALE).“Accreditation allows an institution tobe eligible to participate in student aidand other U.S. federal grant programs,”said Mary Hellen Espinosa, spokeswomanfor Ave María.The accreditation apparently has easedconcerns expressed last month by severalfaculty members and students that theschool was preparing to fold, followingthe firing of the college’s academic dean(TT, Oct. 8).
