The Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) sent President Luis Guillermo Solís two proposals for lowering record-high fuel prices: 1) Eliminate fuel taxes and 2) Reduce spending at the National Oil Refinery (RECOPE).
At a press conference following his weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, President Luis Guillermo Solís said he would request a review of the methodology used for calculating fuel prices with the aim of lowering costs for consumers.
Motorists will pay an additional ₡25-45 in per-liter prices of fuel after the Public Services Regulatory Authority on Wednesday approved a hike request filed last month by the National Oil Refinery.
