The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) on Tuesday evening posted a video of a new eruption at Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, located in Guanacaste province.
Experts with the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica on Thursday reported that Rincón de la Vieja volcano, located in Guanacaste province, increased its activity with vapor and explosions.
A reported 4.6-magnitude earthquake rattled through the Central Valley at 11:51 a.m. on Thursday, and could be felt for approximately 15 seconds in downtown San José. The University of Costa Rica’s National Seismological Network (RSN) said the tremor originated five kilometers east of Naranjito de Aguirre, Quepos in Puntarenas.
Experts from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica say activity has decreased at Turrialba since its peak from October to May, however gas and ash explosions similar to that recorded Saturday could still occur.
