Costa Rica's public health care agency hopes to recover some of that debt by signing an agreement with the National Tourism Chamber (CANATUR) to promote payment plans among its associates.
According to Caja records, most cases of skin cancer in Costa Rica develop among residents of the highlands in the provinces of San José, Heredia and Alajuela, and it happens mainly because people do not take adequate precautions against the sun, believing that cloudy skies prevent its effects.
This year the Caja will use the vaccine produced for the southern hemisphere, rather than the one produced for the northern hemisphere. Authorities hope the change will protect more Costa Ricans against getting the flu.
