Winds in Central Valley, Guanacaste could reach 80 kph this week

The National Meteorological Institute announced Monday that Costa Rica will experience winds as high as 80 kph this week in the Central Valley and in the northwest province of Guanacaste.

A meteorologist told the daily La Nación the high gusts were due to atmospheric pressure in the Caribbean Sea. The gusts, which have already reached 51 kph in the Central Valley and 76 kph in mountainous zones, are expected to grow stronger throughout the week.
